Chapter 40
Samantha walked through the door to her house. It
was a small apartment on the premises of one of the Churches many districts,
far away from where she had just fought.
“Mom is that you?” Came a girl’s voice.
“Yes Carry.” She anwered as she shut the door behind
her. A crucifix on the door swung back and forth.
A teenage girl ran to Samantha and hugged her, she
was almost as tall as her mother.
“How was it? Did you get hurt?” She asked her mom,
knowing all to well what her mother did for aliving and the dangers it
intailed.
“No.” She looked into her daughter's eyes, they
where greyed, blind, with a line cutting through the centre of her face,
through the eyes. “How was school?” She was trying to hold back tears.
“It was good, hard though.” She smiled.
“Oh, just keep trying.” Samantha got a little
choaked up.
The phone started to ring, it came to Samantha’s
dismay. She had hoped for some peace and quite after everything had happened.
Samantha walked across the room to it and answered
it.
“Hello?” She asked not wanting to talk to anyone but
her daughter.
“Samantha?” A male voice answered.
“Mr. Ferdinand, how are you?” She asked not caring,
she knew what he wanted.
“I’m good, I’m calling to see how you are.” As if an
individual of such high ranking within the Society actually cared about how an
agent was doing.
“I’m good, why?” What
does he want?
“You just got back from taking care of the kid that
killed Michael, Raphael, and Gabriel?” Ferdinand asked know full well she had.
“Yes, he was something else.” She said remorsefully
“Well we are going to need you to write a report on
what happened. Everything that happened today should not have happened. Find
the reason behind it.”
“Okay.” She hung up the phone and turned away, a
single tear fell.
“Mom are you okay?” Carry asked as she consoled her
mother.
